Announcing...Gospel United...

In the fall of 2000, amidst the dot.crash (where the internet business model crashed), the idea of Gospel United was conceived. It was an idea developed by a man named "Quinn", who had been developing Urban Music Sites on the internet. The idea was to have a multi-artist Chrisitan Music site that would bring all Christian Music fans together. The vision was for it to be a resource for non-christian music fans and christian music fans alike to find information about artists they may have seen in concert opening for a mainstream act, or while flipping stations on television. The object was to help further the kingdom by offering a resource for people who might not know where to look. The Urban Music Sites were the perfect launching pad for this project.

Sadly, the dot.crash meant no funding or support for this kind of effort, and it became shelved. Meanwhile Quinn, continued to develop Urban Music Sites, which continued to grow steadily on the internet. However this idea wasn't to remain on the shelf for eternity.

In the Fall of 2002 Quinn developed the pilot version of Gospel United. With the support of Gotee Records artist "Out of Eden", the site debuted in November, 2002. It featured a give-away for autographed Out of Eden CD's and photos as well as news from Blackgospelpromo.com and Gotee Records. It's interactive community was culled from the Urban Music sites Quinn had previously developed, and cross promoted heavily on these websites. But sadly, reception was lukewarm, and it once again hit the shelf.

Then in the Spring of 2003 Quinn met a fellow brother named Mwelwa, at a chuch gathering. Mwelwa explained how he does web development and left Quinn with his card. Quinn checked out Mwelwa's sites and was very impressed. After a meeting and many discussions, Mwelwa began work on revamping the website for a new premeire on 6/1/03.

This time Verity Records joined the line up along with Gotee Records, and three CD Reviewers were recruited to work on the site. With Mwelwa in the web development and creative role, Quinn could focus on marketing, relationships, and management. Everything was on track.

But like any other project to help further the kingdom, it came under the enemy's attack. The launch date had to be rolled back twice due to technical issues and errors on the server, Mwelwa had to pull some late nights fixing the problems. Quinn's health was continually under attack - before each launch date, Quinn's health problems would spike, including the 6/1 launch in which he was burning with a fever out of control. One reviewer had mental writing blocks as to how to write reviews; another reviewer, Latesha, watched her computer break down, and her health also came under attack during the final launch date.

But with the kingdom in mind, these people were 'more than conquerors', and on 6/1/03, Gospel United premeired. The site is still being developed however it's the staff's hope that everyone can find a little something here, and perhaps be touched by the spirit.

Special thanks goes to: Lisa Kimmey (Out of Eden), Danielle Kimmey (Out of Eden), Jay Swartzengruber (Gotee Records), Steven Savoca (Zomba-Jive), Damon Williams (Verity Records), Amy Barker (Chafee Management), and the many brothers and sisters who have been praying for this project.
